N80 blue LED

Hi there,

the N80 features this bright little blue LED. It starts blinking, once the phone goes into standby mode.

I am not sure how clever it was in the first place, to build in another energy consuming device in a phone that is already infamous for its **bleep** battery. (Bet the energy she phone saves by going into standby is used up by this LED indicating standby).

Apart from that, the LED gets really annoying when you use the N80 on a phone holder in your car whilst driving at night time: Especially together with one of Nokia's headset which also feature a bright blue, blinking LED you have got your own mobile disco. Unfortunately, I always think I have got an ambulance car in front of me or behind me.

Has anybody found a way to turn off this LED or the standby mode temporarily? Any hacks? I am interested in a smart solution - please no housewifey blue tac ideas...

Thanks in advance,
Stefan

Re: N80 blue LED

No the only way is to turn off the power save feature. Oh and the blue LED uses very little power but at the same time it is dumb to have a power save feature that uses energy.
Is that an N95 in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?!?

Life's too important to take seriously.
Nokias I've owned 3210, 3310, 6100, 7650, 6600, 6680, 6630, N80, N95

The little blue LED is there so you can tell that the phone is switched on. Can't say it's ever bothered me.

it does get annoying when watching a film with the lights off

ideally should have an option to turn it off

Re: N80 blue LED

I have to agree, the blue flashing LED is annoying, but the best solution is to turn the phone over!

If you get a call you will hear the ring tone or it vibrating, so no chance of ever missing that all important call.

The only other way to stop that blue LED flashing is to turn off sleep mode.

It is handy though, as you KNOW that the phone is turned on, even though the screen may be blank, and given the battery life on the N80, one really needs to converve as much energy as possible (LED's use very little current)

Does anyone know if it actually flashes when you have no reception? Surely you remember the old Ericssons and their infamous flashing reception LED?

my N73 also has the same problem, i found that by turning the phone into 'hidden' mode stops it flashing. Hope it helps
