Since downloading the new Nokia Messaging client 10.2.0.4 (Main) on my N97 Mini (11.0.045) it refuses to sync with my gmail account (it worked prior to downloading the new client via Software update on the phone).
I've tried changing the "When to Sync" setting to soonest or 15 mins etc but that makes no difference.
If I change the access point it will open a connection (which it wont have done until this point) but still no sync. It never seems to close the connection, unless the phone is rebooted.
Anyone have the new messaging client working ?

The same for me.
If I reboot the phone at home, with wifi access, it will open the wifi and keep connected. The e-mails flows.
When I left home, without the wifi access lost, I haven't found the way to put it again to sync without reboot.
I've tryied "Tools -> Disconecct" (? I've got spanish version), and then "Tools -> Connect" without luck, and "Sync" also.
I've tryied also to open a wifi connection first, and then go to the app and do the same things whitout luck again

OK, got it working as follows.
Uninstalled Nokia Email (the messaging app)
Downloaded and resintalled latest version
Entered my settings, and set to 15min polling interval
I did the above away from my wi-fi network.
At this point it was working as before (ie still a bit flaky when picking up Gmails, especially if I have read and deleted them via a browser, they were not getting removed from the phone).
Got home turned on wi-fi.
Nokia messaging continued to use 3g network (and drop the connection after each 15min poll)
Went into settings->access points. Internet was already selected, however I pressed it again and OK'd that.
Now messaging opens a wi-fi connection and never drops it.
Created a new destination with just a cellular access point and set messaging to use it. Wi-fi connection dropped and 3G connection established - 3g connection will now not drop.
Rebooted phone, hoping things work now I have set the destination to one that doesn't include wi-fi.

I too installed this last night when prompted. Disappointed as very buggy, messaging will not disconnect for me either, I find this very annoying.
What I done was simply to uninstall application, and reinstall older version. I use a program called Psiloc connect, which works great, forces all my apps on my N97 to connect to my home wifi connection when I'm in range, whether they like it or not, so using the older version of nokia messaging isn't a problem for me at the moment.

Thanks for link,
it is again working as it should,
but this version is always connecting only to "mobile internet" even if I am in wireless range. I set access point to default, and in internet connection I`we got set in priority 1-mobile internet, priority 2-wireless.
I thing we could only wait for an new release of Nokia Massaging without bugs (hope Nokia could do it
)

10.2 isn't dropping wi-fi/3g connection with me either. Thanks for the rollback and psiloc connector tip Zohan. Why isn't this beta tested before being rolled out to everyone though?!

Try the Psiloc Connect, it will force Nokia client to connect to your wifi, very easy to setup, I purchased this ages ago, gla

I can't beleive they can release a service without proper testing. I as well am having the problem with the WIfi not disconnecting after a sync. Even if you manally disconnect it, it will reconnect again. I think i'm going to have to revert back to 10.1 Hopefully they will get it right with the next release.

Try this, seems to work for me. Re-install 10.1 (link as in previous posts above). Set the access point as default in service info (not sure if this matters). Then install 10.2 - hopefully the access point will be set as your default destination - if not don't change it! Its something to do with changing the access point that keeps the connection alive. Mine has so far connected / disconnected from wi-fi every 15mins as required and has done the same via 3g when I leave the house. Not sure if its affected by switching the phone off as I never switch mine off.

Hi all,
I have same problem with never disconnecting WiFi since updated NM to 10.2.0.4 on N97 (2.1.0.045). Full format gave me NM 10.1.0.24 installed trough OVI Suite again. All works fine again.
I can't believe Nokia is releasing so buggy versions. Is nobody there testing new releases?! ![]()
@Davis from NM team: solve this issue QUICKLY please!

forget that fix. I think it only worked because i has psiloc connecter installed (although i wasn't connecting via it, i had the AP set to my default destination). I uninstalled psiloc connector and it started playing up again!
It would be nice if we could here something from Nokia about it! I've previously tweeted @nokiamessaging to no avail. Also left a comment on the blog.I think its strange that they have beta programs on other apps but messaging seems to roll out without any external input.

Lukasch - Can you please send your Nokia Messaging email address to nmfeedback@nokia.com. We'll take a look at the logs, and get with the client folks, to see what's going on here.
Thanks,
Bret

Giving Nokia Messaging v.10.2.0.4 second chance. To avoid sync problems new destination for messaging with 3G acces point only created.
Still awaiting problem evaluation from NM team.
Lukasz
------------
Few minutes later:
And this installation was my wrong step. 3G connection cannot be dropped. If I drop it manually, comes again...
So 10.2.0.4 was uninstalled and 10.1.0.24 installed again from Nokia Ovi Suite.

hey there! i have the same problem. using nokia 5800xm v 40.0.005. i hate that i can't control connections, especially when roaming. they need to make that work, so that you can always manualy select connection you want and when you disconnect, that you actualy disconnect and don't need to reboot your phone ![]()

I too have a nokia 5800 with the new v40 firmware, downloaded this version of messaging and from day one, I've had the same problem, if you choose wifi and you disconnect and go offline, the messaing app will not release the wifi, if I choose WAP the data connection would stay on, I tried to manually disconnect it and when the wifi goes off, it would scan for the WAP service.
This is only if I use the actual new app that is found on the short cut in the middle of the new homescreen for v40, if I use the traditional messaging program to go into my e-mails, it will release the connections just fine.
I noticed my battery didn't last as long as it used to. I thought it was the new v40 firmware, but I have since discovered this was the problem, after checking e-mail when I turn on the phone, it would stay connected all day,but when I had to manually reset the phone, I noticed the battery lasted longer, like it used to.

So Nokia has not updated the NM app so that it will disconnect when it's supposed to be offline?
14-Mar-2010 07:03 PM
last week the app was offering me to choose the connections and everything was working fine. when i went offline, the connection was not active anymore-like it should be. i thought the bug was fix but last two days i have again the same problem :S come on nokia, do something!!!
