Incoming / Outgoing VOIP problems on E61

Incoming calls work great on my E61 but outgoing calls don't work at all and keep giving "connection error" could this be a NAT trasversal issue?

weird I can't make outgoing calls, but incoming work, I figured it would be the other way around..

Thanks
Nick

Re: Incoming / Outgoing VOIP problems on E61

I'm getting the same error but on my E65.

"Internet Telephone Service Not Availible" but I'm able to receive calls, just not able to place them.

Does your provider require an outbound proxy? Mine apparently does (it's a local provider).

ie. Here are some of the settings:

My VOIP Provider has the following requirements for clients:

Username: 00000
Domain: aci.on.ca
Auth Username: 0000@aci.on.ca
Proxy: aci.on.ca
Domain: aci.on.ca
Auth Realm: aci.on.ca
Outbound Proxy: sip.aci.on.ca
Outbound Proxy Port: 5060
Use Outbound Proxy: Yes

Now on the handset I've setup the following:

Under Settings -> Connection -> SIP Settings

Service Profile: IETF
Default Access Point: My AP
Public Username: 00000@aci.on.ca (SIP: prefix auto included and 00000 replaced with my username)
Use Compression: No
Registration: Always On
Use Security: No

In the Proxy Server Menu:
Proxy Server: sip.aci.on.ca (this allows to connect but there is no mention of outbound or regular proxy, or where I can select 'use outbound proxy') (if I remove the 'sip.' I am unable to register with my provider)
Realm: aci.on.ca
Username: 00000
Password: ***************
Allow Loose Routing: Yes
Transport Type: Auto
Port: 5060

Under the Registrar Server Menu:

Registrar Serv. Addr: aci.on.ca (makes no difference if I make the address exactly the same as the proxy menu, I still cannot send outbound)
Realm: aci.on.ca
Username: 00000
Password: ***************
Transport Type: Auto
Port: 5060

----------------------------------

I also sent a request to Nokia and my provider. Hopefully a solution can be found. It'll definitely increase the value of our handsets (NOKIA are you listening? LOL). Ciao.

Re: Incoming / Outgoing VOIP problems on E61

I get the same problem on my E65?!?
i can recieve calls via voip but I can make any.
I know its not a problem with the provider (www.bustedmediatalk.co.uk) so it must be a problem with the phone or router.....

Have you got a solution yet?

Cheers

Re: Incoming / Outgoing VOIP problems on E61

Hi David,
Still no solution using the Nokia application. Was able to make outgoing voip calls by installing and using Fring, however I'd really like to use the built in application instead of a third-party application. Hopefully there'll be a work around.

Cheers.

Re: Incoming / Outgoing VOIP problems on E61

I have the Nokia N95 and was having the same problem with placing outgoing calls. I finally got it to work by taking out the proxy server settings completely. Leave that section completely blank.

Other settings you need to make sure are set for Callcentric:

Public Username: 1777XXXXXXX@callcentric.com
Use Compression: No
Use Security: No

Under Registrar Settings:
Registrar Server: callcentric.com
Realm:callcentric.com
Username: 1777XXXXXXX
Password: your SIP password
Transport Type: UDP
Port:5060

This works great for me now, incoming and outgoing.

Re: Incoming / Outgoing VOIP problems on E61

Malubob. Thank you very much for the tip. Incoming and Outgoing via VOIP/SIP Setting work if all fields except the Proxy Server details are inputed. It also seems related to the recent Firmware update for the e65. Looks like Nokia is listening to its users. Hope that helps.
